Replacing Jeep Panels

Well since we're on the subject of hat channels and panel replacement. Does anybody know how i go about replacing just the hat channels. Mine really rusty and about rotted away. Can i simply cut them off and weld some new ones on, or do i have to replace the whole floor.


And i'v heard of people use hocky pucs for body mounts, do work well and are they reliable?

 

If the floors are ok, then you can just R&R the hat channels. Some folks use a spotweld cutter to get the channels loose from the floor. You can get a spotweld cutter at Eastwood. The CJ3A page has a good pictoral about removing hat channels.
