Time to think about a new top for my 1974 CJ5. The last one I had on it was a K-Line (or is it Kay-Line). Anyway, I really like that top but time, the elements and an unauthorized driver took their toll. I understand K-Line is no longer in business and an outfit called Specialty Top Company, also in Denver, Colorado took over their product line. I don't require much just who makes the best quality and best looking top for my CJ5.:)

I bought an STC. Excellant quality and one of the doors had a nearly unnoticeable blemish so they sent me a brand new one and said keep the old. Same quality as old Kayline. Only thing I don't like is the doors do not come in full window versions. But then again none do.

Yes, STC is the same as Kayline. Made in the same plant here in Denver, with a lot of the old Kayline employees. You'll get the best price on them from Herm The Overdrive Guy. I went right to the plant one day, and he would sell me one, but he has to sell for full retail so he doesn't undercut his distributors.

    Dejavu:rofl:

These are the one's I know about

    www.bestop.com
    www.kaylinetops.com
    www.rockgearinc.com

As far as quality goes bestop and kayline(stc) are probably as good as it gets. There are fitment issues with the bestop tigertops, at least with mine there are. I've always heard good things about kayline. Rock Gear Inc. as far as I know is fairly new, don't know much about them, but they look to be a versitile top and they make a fastback for early cj5s.

Rockgear isn't new. They've been around, disappeared and the company was resurrected. Don't know much about the new owner. Old company had a good rep.
