Knocking noise from steering

    I've noticed a knocking noise coming from the lower area of the steering shaft. I only notice/hear it when not moving. It only happens in one spot. Anything in particular I should check? Are there any parts that have a tendancy to wear out in the steering box or of the lower coupling assembly? Thanks in advance.

    in this thread you'll find an exploded view of the bell coupler
    there is also a large u-joint where the lower and upper steering sfahfts meet
    place your hand on the joints while someone wiggles the wheel for you and see if you can feel the thunk or play
