Steering gear box question

    I have manual steering on my 72 and there seems to be a lot of play in the gearbox. How much is acceptable and is it rebuildable?

    It is rebuildable and can be adjusted. New condition would be less than 1/2" at the OD of the steering wheel - just like a passenger car. There are instructions for adjustment in the FSM.
