I know a guy who has all the parts to make a twin-stick bronco gear 20 and wants to off them. If anyone is interested, I can give you his number. He is in Mesa, Az. Don't know price, but is probably reasonable. CJ

Model 20 transfer case with the Scout twin stick shifter setup, Model 18 for internals, and THE Bronco gear from the Bronco Model 20 that is needed to complete the deal.

Just for info purposes the correct gear # is 18-8-37. If he has the 18-8-58 gear it's the wrong one.
The complete #'s for the conversion are:
    18-8-23 (input)
    18-5-9 (intermediate or idler gear)
    18-8-22
    18-8-24
    and 18-8-37 (Bronco gear)

An 18-8-33 input gear from the Bronco can work but where the washer and nut tighten against the gear is not recessed so cannot run a PTO or overdrive unit off that gear because the nut sticks out too far and interferes.
I've done this conversion at least 50-75 times and know it works well with these #'s. Nickmil

I think the correct gear from the Bronco is : Bronco upper sliding gear, straight cut teeth 18 8 58 33. Also if you changed the gears in a twin stick scout dana 20 to dana 18 gears and used the Bronco gears it is still a dana 20 and you can't use an overdrive. Our vist this web site for the correct gears http://www.jeeptech.com/convxfer/2.46-20/. If he has this setup and for a cheap price I would go for it.

The correct bronco sliding gear is 18-8-37, NOT the 18-8-58 as stated in my above post. I've been doing this conversion for many years and know which gears it takes. There is a bunch of MISINFORMATION on these web sites as to which gear it takes. I've contacted many of the authors of the articles, they agreed I was right, but never changed the articles. The gear comes from the early Early Bronco transfer case commonly called the "T" shift. That is the one with the 2.46-1 low range and is where the 18-8-37 slider gear comes from. The later Early Bronco transfer case is called a "J" shift and has something like a 2.38-1 first gear. This is the transfer case the 18-8-58 comes from. As you can see, the gear can't match up due to the different ratios. The "T" shift 'case is easily identifiable by the shift rails. They have slots in them like many Scout or Jeep model 20 transfer cases and have a solid plate between them with hitch pins for pivots. The "J" shift 'case has ears welded on the shift rails and is an easy way to identify the incorrect case for the gears.
I should note that John Nutter got the correct transfer case to use the slider gear from, just the wrong gear #. That article was originally on Off-Road.com years ago before I joined this board and the error was pointed out then and they still haven't changed it. All other info in that article is good. Nickmil.
