Lights and speedometer

I am haviong some wiring problems. One is the speedometer. There is a spring coming out the back only about two feet there it is cut. I don't know where to get a long enough spring and also how to attach it. I am apparently missing a piece as well that holds it on. I will try to get a picture of underneath by tommorow. Second I have the origanal headlights but someone has cut the wires right at the lights. There are like eithg wires that go in. What are the all and how can I attach then back to a switch???

 

You can buy universal type sockets for the headlights that usually come with about a foot of wires.

Please post a pic of that "spring". I'm wondering if it is the spiral wound casing of the speedo cable that has deteriorated and come undone.
