This has been kind of a fast paced project. I picked this Jeespter in April and have been working on it since. The windshield frame should be back from the body shop today and I'm still waiting on the new top (black) from STC.

Does anyone know if somebody makes a replacement grill for the cowl area. I was powder coating mine and it fell off the hooks onto the heating element and warped it. I would also be interested in a good used one if somebody has one they want to sell.

I'll send more pictures when its done.

I am located in Blue Hill, Nebraska. I am also looking for a good drivers side mirror. Mines O.K. but it has a little bit of pitting in it.

This thing kind of changed objective in mid stream. A couple of years ago I restored a 1967 Dodge Custom Sport Special pickup. It was a short box 1/2 ton with factory bucket seats, console, 383, and racing stripes. My son who is 9 had a lot of fun helping me with it. Well, as things go some guy in Florida wanted it alot more than I did ($$$$$$$$) so I sold it. My son took it really hard, which I didn't expect. When I got this thing and started working on it he asked if we were going to fix it up so we could take it to car shows like the Dodge. So it went from being a hunting rig to this. The problem is it is almost too nice. My father always told be there are good looking trucks and hunting rigs, and ususally they aren't the same. I'll probably baby it until I get the first scratch, cry a little, and then use it for what it was intended for.

It has the V-6 which runs really nice, 70K miles, and I used close to 4#'s of welding wire and almost a full 5'x4' sheet of steel replacing all of the rust. But we did it right and it doesn't have much bondo in it, just some skim coats to make it straight. Which, as you can see from the pictures it is really straight. I built a new fuel filler kneck out of 2" tubing and then powder coated it. I got the idea from this forum to use a garage door seal for the Windshield Frame to Cowl gasket. It's going to work perfectly. It even has the lip on it. At the ends I did some cutting and used archery fletching cement to glue the lip area back on to the radius. I will send a picture of this area when it's done. If someone wants a picture of just the gasket let me know and I will post one.

The tires are 31X9.5-15 Super Swamper TSL radials and the rims are American Racing 23's. The shocks and steering stabilizer are Pro Comp's. I think the rims and tires really look nice on it.

Here is a picture of the Dodge. I hope you won't delete it or throw rocks at the screen. It was a really nice truck and faster than you would want to ever drive it. I can't figure out why Dodge ever built them.

Nice looking old Dodge. Can't beat those 383's. Rebuilt and dropped one out of a 69 Polara into my 86 Power Ram. Kind of liked the idea of have almost as many HP as the CI's of the 318 I pulled out without having to do a whole bunch of performance upgrades. With the addition of headers and a 4 bbl I'm probably pushing over that now and I still get 14mpg hauling Jeepsters.
Anyway, back to your questions about mirrors. There are some out there that look nice but usually end up being the crappy ABS plastic. There is a company up here in Canada that has repo rectangular head which is the stock mirror. http://www.canadianclassic.com/store/store.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SF&Product_Code=593009 Back in the day Mustangs in Canada, for what ever reason, used rectangular head outside mrrors. These are the same as Jeepster. I've also heard that old Malibus (late 60's/early 70's?) used the same mirror.

    Love the AR-23s.

My choice when I'm ready for the new tire/wheel purchase.
