    Well since i am under the jeep and i have 22 feet of 3x3 square tubing, i can also make syself some rock sliders for the jeep. Pretty much you just have to weld on some mounts from the tube and go to the frame. I kind of do not want to go and weld them to the frame, Do you have any pics of a bolt on solution to getting these kind of protection to the frame.

    Weld a square plate on the frame end of the slider big enough for 4 bolts.

    it just seems kind of weak for the sliders to mount like that since it is open channel frame. but i guess everyone is doing it and their jeeps are not breaking :)

    It just needs to be strong 'nuff to take a slow speed shot and keep the body from taking it.

    It also is going to be a step. I am being nice to the wife, and trying to help her get in the jeep. Billy may even benefit from the steps ;)

    Maybe get a hand crank winch like they use on boat trailers.

    Rock slider mount + Spring hanger + end of boxed frame = cracks in my frame.

    However my jeep gets badly abused:smash:

    I am very close to the same point in my jeep build. I am also concerned about the frame cracks and drilling additional holes in my frame...

    What I have seen that I don't have a picture of is using a larger plate and a backing plate. The bolts actually go around the frame and the whole setup kind of clamps to the frame. Still not sure how I am going to do mine.

    I also plan to tie my rollcage into the same mounts...

    If you wheel your rig, it's gonna crack. Mine are tied into the cage and the frame didn't stand a chanceR) Consider boxing the frame past that point and get creative with some tubing:beer:

    Thats the route Im taking , I dont see the point of attaching to the frame. I plan on making something simular to the warn slides and later if I put in a full cage I want to bolt it to the slides though the tub. That way I will not be weakening the frame and be making a safe box for me and who ever is riding.

    Why do the sliders HAVE to be mounted to the frame? (Unless you have a fiberglass tub) Seems like a thick piece of 3" or 4" angle iron bolted to the tub would offer a lot of protection. Hudsonhawk has some I really like with the round tubing attached to the corner. I couldn't find the picture. No ground clearance lost that way.

    sorry for the hijack;

    I have a fiberglass tub.... I plan on using a bushing to isolate my cage from the frame and sliders or nerf bars or whatever you want to call them. Here is how I did the rear tie in;

    [IMG]

    I am still considering a piece of 4" angle iron on the edge of the tub. Outside of that coming out an inch or so with some 1X2 for a step, kind of like a nerf bar. Little expanded metal on the top of the 1X2 to make it non skid. Connecting that to the 4 cage mounts that are on that part of the floor and then connecting that to the frame with a bushing. That results in a taller initial step to get in tho....

    I guess with some allowable flex I don't see how that is going ot crack the frame.

    I found the picture of Hudsohawk's rocker. This is probably what I'm going to do.

    1. If you abuse your rocker panels, your body mounts will hate you.

    2. Good way to tie the cage to the frame.

    For lighter use, mounting them to the body would be fine.

    That one was made by Hudsonhawk, which I can guarantee looks a lot better than mine will. I'm just going to try to copy it. I'm planning on bolting it to the tub in 3 or 4 places on both the side and bottom. Right now I'm just looking around for some scrap iron to use.
