My exhaust is hodge podge. Ends right under the driver seat and has a leak in the hose in the engine compartment. Someone tried to fix the hole with a beer can. Doesn't reall help. Can I buy one of those pipes/muffler/tail pipe kits even with a 1.5 in. lift and a rear gas tank??? Tank seems to take up most of the back. Also this wierd connection that leaks. Thought lead substitute inhalation wasn't a good idea. Should I get a shop with a pipe bender to do it. Or can I do it?????:? :JEEP:

I'd get rid of the flex pipe, the splices, patches, etc.
Take it to an exhaust shop and have it done right..... IMO.....

Yikes that is a hodge podge! . Unless you already have a bender, I'd just take it to a shop. If it was totally stock I'd say just buy an exhaust kit and install it yourself, but if there might be a clearance issue with your gas tank a shop is probably easier. Cost is probably about the same as a kit. I've asked around here what a shop would charge and it was about the same. I've never build an exhaust system from scratch (well, at least not a good one!), but unless you have a bender, a welder, and a lot of time it's probably not worth it.

Peter DeBella has complete Fhead exhaust systems for $110 or so. Imported, I'm sure, but whattya want for $110? DeBella Jeep Parts.

Start fresh with a new exhaust system, you'll be happier in the end. If your pipe is any indication as to what the muffler looks like, then I'm sure that you'll free up your exhaust with a new system.

I recently took mine to an ehaust shop, they bent a complete system from the manifold back (single pipe) for a $150 clams. This included all hangers, pipes and muffler, now we can actually talk and hear while the engine is running 8) . Good luck.
