OK, tongue removed from cheek. Besides, I think we are in jeopardy of hijacking this thread.

Ok, time to get back to work!

I have been waiting for steel to show up and last week it did. My buddy cory and I went in on a steel buy together to help cut the cost down. The more you buy usually the better deal you get. He gets an even better deal because he is in san jose and I'm in the sticks. So saturday I pulled a trailer up there to retrieve my steel. It didn't fit on the trailer well but it made it all the way home. It barely fits in the garage. The 1.75 DOM tube is 23ft long, I always thought standard lengths were in the 20-21ft range.

    Pic on the trailer.

I did get to start working on stuff today. Started working on the tube bender frame. This is all 2x2x.25 tubing. The arms are 3/4" thick.

I finished the trans on thursday so its also ready to come home. I'll probably try to bolt it up tommorrow.

Trying to keep going on the this project but I keep hitting hurdles on the way. I was trying to finish the tubing bender this weekend as that is one of the key rollcage fabrication tools. No such luck. I remembered that the main pivot pin in the bender dies are 1" holes and not the 7/8" that I thought they were. I need a 1" drill bit now and a 1" bolt. Also my holes in the uprights wound up being too tight and I need to take them to work to grind them out a bit. However, I got the base done and its complete with wheels and leveling jacks.

I also started working on the rear suspension. I manhandled the rearend into place only to decide to redo the lower link mounts on the axle, which means I have to wait for parts yet again. It also looks like the round tube on the frame above the axle will hit when the suspensions compressed so that will have to move.

I did get the trans bolted up on thursday however.

    Kevo,

Is that a Ford T-18 or the Jeep T-98? I have the Ford and I noticed that your PTO cover is on the drivers side, mines on the passengers. Just wondering what the difference is? I remember Pigs T-18 had reverse in a different place than mine too.

    Nice work!

Actually made some progress this past week after going skiing last weekend.

I wound up cutting the lower link rear axle mounts off the axle as well as the old coil buckets. I ground it all down and smothed it out then welded the new lower link mounts on. I'm trying to get a bit more triangulation on the lower links to help lower the anti-squat and roll center.

However, the big news is the bender is finnally working!!!! Its not done yet, but I did get to bend a piece of tube finally.

Ram is fully extended here. It is slow, but not too bad and at least I'm not doing the work. It does seem to bend the 1.75 DOM without an issue for now.

After repinning the die I can complete my 90* bend.

Finished bend. Worked well. I am pleased. I thought I'd never get it done and that it probably wouldn't work, but now I am happy.

I still need to plate in a few spots add a brace over the top of the ram and clean it up a bit as well as paint it. I think for the time being I'll let be as is and once I've used it a bit I'll finish it. At least now I can start doing tube work as well as finish the suspension.

    Enjoy!

It is a stock jeep CJ T18 trans housing with a hodge-podge of ford and jeep granny gears in it. I believe pigs T18 was a ford unit as he had the shorter bellhousing than mine 6.5 vs 8.25. I think there were differences between the early and late T18s also.

When are you gonna post pics of the rebuild on the ole' M38?:)

The woman left early this morning so I got to work early and got the rear links cut and tacked.

I also started working on the grill hoop. Hopefully, I'll have that and the front axle truss bent up tomorrow. I want to get the front suspension done before I do much of the tube work that way I'll have an idea of where the tires go.

    Enjoy!
