I've gotten all the bolts attaching the body to the frame off (had to cut off 4 of the 12). Now I'm ready to remove the body.

The front part of the floor up to the step-up is pretty solid as is the cowl, firewall, door jams and even rockers. About the only thing that really needs replacing is the floors of the "bed" (its a half-cab) that have been exposed to the weather.

My question is is it necessary to weld in supports for the tub to keep everything aligned? If so, where?

Also, I'd like to know what others have done about replacing the floor supports where the bolts and washers attach to. Do the ready-made floor panels come with these (I'm thinking not).

I expect I'll use square tubing.

Finally, what gauge are the floors? Supports? If I cut my own, I'd like to go heavier.

    Thanks for your time!

I replaced all the floor supports in my CJ7 project with 2X2 tube. Just because I had it laying around. It actually worked out great. The body got a bit heavier with all the added metal but it wasn't going to rot again. I will look and see if I have any pictures of it. I also did two pieces stacked for the back under the tailgate. Doing that added about 1.5 inches of body lift also. The way it was done it didn't look like it was body lifted. Very happy with the results. I was looking at floor panels for the 5, they are actually very affordable....

I will see if I have any pictures of them

I'm doing a frame off or should I say body off on a Half Cab I'm building for my wife. I didn't weld in any braces when I did the floors but I did leave the doors on it and closed most of the time. I was lucky, the bottom lip of the rockers were still solid so that provided some needed support and my floor supports were all good. Not too often you see that in a Jeepster . If you were needing supports welded on then across the door openings if you have the doors off and across the top of the body at the rear by the tailgate. Depending on how much you need to remove you might consider across the body at the rear of the door opening too.
And no, replacement floor panels don't come with the supports. That should probably be the next thing somebody reproduces or at least come up with something that would replace them. Not sure what the gauge is on the metal.
