My 73 CJ5 has wipers with the motor on the bottom drivers side of the windshield. It has no washer fluid pump or tank. Did stock have it and if so, where was it located? If not, have any of you installed an aftermarket and if so, where and what type? Thanks again in advance, this board has been very helpfull for the newbe.

BTW: I really do search on these topics a lot before I ask the questions. Just sometimes what I find I don't understand.

I have a 73 and just replaced my tank-pump with a new one from http://4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?q=windshield+washer&pid=3211338. It looks and fits just like the orginal and was $60. I have seen the same kit on e-bay for $44. If you have the orginal wiper switch you just push on the switch to activate the pump. Here are some pics of the res. and the (pretty sure) factory washer nozzle. Seems to work real well. My jeep friends used to laugh at me when we would go mud bogging and I would hit the washer squirters to wash the window, they couldn't believe my jeep still has this installed, I guess I like to see where I'm going.:)

After looking at your jeep in another post I see you have a tilt fiberglass hood, so mounting to the inner fender probably not an option, you might mount it to the firewall with good results? Could get a push button to activate the pump and I didn't notice if you have a nozzle but could do like boyink and find some good nozzles at the junk yard, they have a much better spray pattern than the orginal nozzle anyway. My resevoir pump puts out good pressure to run the other nozzles. Good Luck!

Great ideas. Thanks for posting. My hood is fiberglass. Do I have to do anything special to drill the holes or do I have any other mouting options for the nozzles?

I did not look close enough. I thought you had them on the hood. Great. That should be an easy install even for me.

A good friend of mine had the early above glass wipers on his '65. He added some of the metal nozzles that looked like crimped tube above the wiper pivots and ran the hose inside, down the inside of the windshield frame just like the vacuum line for vacuum wipers, through the dash and firewall to a bottle in the engine compartment. He got it all from the wrecking yard for a few bucks. Worked very well for him and he had to do very little to install and no holes in the cowl to leak. Just a thought. Nickmil
