here it is 12 bucks and 2 hours of sanding painting mounting balencing and beer drinking later and i got a home made console that don't look bad. I don't know what size ammo the can holds but my buddy who just got back from iraq told me they did thid in their hummers (the real ones not the face lift suburbans) now i just need to lock it. next up ammo can speaker boxes.

Probably 20mm. I'd like to know how much each one of those cans costs us taxpayers, and they just throw 'em away.

Yeh you can find the 9MM ones just floating around on the ocean, like this pic proves

Found it last summer while out in my kayak. Opened it up and it was still dry inside. I plan on using it in Chia.

I'd be afraid to open that one up -- maybe find a dead cat, or worse. :)

Someone say speakers??? Here are mine. Old Jerry cans work good as well with 10 inchers in the side and tweeters in the filler hole.

To lock a box like this make the hole in the latch wider to fit a small muffler clamp or threaded eye bolt. Bolt the clamp or eye bolt to the box then flip the latch over it to hid the nut/s. Place a pad lock through the clamp and it secures the latch.

    Another idea for speakers...
Here's a pic of Wheelie's '71. Note what looks like offroad lights mounted on the wheelhouse in back... Dave has speakers installed in these housings. Cool idea!

I shook it before I opened it just to make sure R) Nope it was totally dry inside, a testement to how waterproof those things are since it was floating upside down for at least a month according to the marine biologist I saw right after I found it.

These are all some great ideas. It's an awfully big console just to keep an ink pen in, but a great idea nonetheless.:) :)

if i had to take a guess at teh ammo can size from the first post i would say 40 mm grenades for a mk19mod3, thats what i used for mine and it fit just right between the seats. mine is in the first post of the link and a friend posted some pics further down of the one he did also with a 40mm cah and some pics of his .50cal cans for the rear wheelwells

Anyone locally need any cans? Let me know. I am quite busy right now, but take a break or two to keep the insanity by checking on here. I will "scrounge" some up. It could be a couple weeks so be patient. We just spent over 30,000 .50cal rounds on our last gunnery.
