I need to put in new shocks. I was wondering if I really needed to get the adjustable ones. From the searches i see people say that they are great. What I need to know is if they are worth the extra $150 for all four. I will mostly use the jeep offroad except for a few parades and getting to the place i am going off roading. I just need to know that i will not roll (have a greater chance of rolling) at around 50 mph at absolute top speed, mostly top at 45 , Any recomendations of specific shocks would be welcomed too.

I personally don't like the adjustable shocks. I tend to prefer Bilstein 5100's/5150's - or the BBCS from poly performance. Gas charged shocks to me handle sooo much better. BUT - these are also more expensive.

Rancho RS9000 by what most guys here have run.

Once I get the $$ I plan to take the RS5000s off. They're too stiff.

so it seems that if I can scrounge the $$ that the better ones are worth it. So Rancho Rs9000 or the Bilstein 5100's or any other opinions???

I run the stock monroes. $15 each. I'd take the collapsed length add 2 inches and search from there.

Typically with shocks the more expensive ones are better from my experience. So figure out how much you want to spend and shop around for shocks in that price range. Bilsteins are nice and everyone I've tlaked to that runs them are VERY happy with them.

Unless you have a super soft suspension, and my guess is you probably do not. Then I would just go with a cheap gas charged shock.

I put RS9000s on my burb. Set them on 3 and the ride was awesome! I never once changed the setting on them. It probably would have helped when I towed my 7000# trailer. So IMHO the adjustable shocks are not worth the coin unless you go all out and get the in cab adjuster too. In the future I will buy shocks that fit the majority of my driving needs, non adjustable...

Check out the black diamonds on ebay. Superlift sells them as scratch and dent for as low as $7. I bought a set of the AT's a few months ago for $13 a piece. Three were brand new and one had the boot already installed. No scratches of dents and all the parts were there.

Quadratec.com has a great shock advisor chart, but I couldn't get it to come up, just the text below. Try their site though and open the "Site Map" and look under "Help" then "Quadratec Knowledge Center" then "Shock Advisor Chart". Its good information and may help in your search.:v6:

I wouldn't go off of anyone else's shock length chart. There are just too many variables. Just take your shock off, measure the distance between your upper and lower mount at full droop and full stuff and then you will be able to choose your shock from there. It's not that hard and you will be assured of the exact proper length shock for your JEEP. I do agree with Sparky about the Rancho 5000's. WAY STIFF. :)

Make sure Lynn sees this thread. He runs RS9000s and adjusts them for trail or street use I know. He's MIA this week, so you might PM him.

    x2

just take your measurements and compare them to the shocks you want.
Extended and compressed shock lengths will be listed in their catalog.
I just bought gas charged FLAPS shocks
    work for me

okay to throw a wrench in my plans, I have no front shocks. Is this the way it should be. I am no longer sure if I have a suspension lift. Here is a pictur of the back. Does this look right? Then should I put shocks on the front and how should I. Here is a pic of the front as well, although it si not that good. What do I need to put them on the front.
