dohc281 It is what it is.

I have an opportunity to buy a used trans and transfer case cheap. I need to rebuild mine and thought about buying these, rebuilding and taking mine out and it would be a quicker process. What should I look at to make sure that everything is the same and I don't run into any problems when I go to install it?

I would grab it. IIRC unless it is out of a pickup or wagon it should be the same. But then again I have been wrong in the past.

I certainly would not assume that you can buy it, rebuild it, and it will be the same as what you've got. The T-90 has 3 major variations (A1, C and J - http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/t90.htm) and the D18 has variations too - shifter, e-brake, intermediate shaft size, big hole / little hole, probably more that I'm not familiar with. If you don't know what you have or will get, don't assume.

However, if the price is right and it has a short shaft, I'd probably buy it to have the parts. Even a long shaft transmission has useful parts.

And don't forget those pesky IH variations as well.
