Anyone heard from Jeepngem lately? I am interested in info about how his extended halfcab was put together.

anyone here know if the cab corners were fabbed or if they are from a specific top?

not looking to copy, only to understand what went into his top.

it's two roof sections welded together
he had to make the bulkhead.
shoot me an email or a pm and I will forward it along.
Glenn was talking to another member here just recently about the same thing.
he really should do a writeup on it for it's too late for the step by step pics

I think a fairly 'easy' (if anything like this is easy) way would be to take a half cab and add the insert that was put in for the CJ6. That would give it around 20 inches or so of extra length. Since the parts were made to go together, fit should not be a problem.

You'd need to modify the top though.

I have often thought that a cj5 hardtop on a cj6 would be nice as well.

You could 'simply' remove the cj6 inserts, mount the unit, and then cut down the top to fit.

if I recall, the donor top was a damaged in transit roof section for a CJ6
the corners are simply the 4 corners of the 2 roof sections; it's the rear section from the damaged roof, and the front section from a regular cab roof.
but I better let Glenn take over, I could be wrong......

I had a half cab that was somehow fabbed up with a homemade plate that went around the top of the windshield i found in a boneyard in arizona for a cj2a. it was a complete Koeenig brand with roll up windows and steel doors. I hated it. I thought it was hokey looking, so when i was carousing the scrap yard in washington state and saw the same top for an early cj 5 minus the doors and the front dented pretty good i gave the 25 bucks for it and ran home laughing. I then took an abrasive blade scribed straight lines and cut the two tops and sides apart. The local weld shop welded them together for me and i had a full top for my 2a. I needed it in Washington state, but i always felt like i was driving a sardine can around. It was an easy mod if you have the space.
