How would you fix this front bumper and add towbar?

There was a towbar on this bumper. It got bound up and damaged the mounts. How would you recommend I fix it?

Cut off the damaged brackets and weld some new plate on the bumper, then mount new brackets? Or should the bumper actually get replaced?

Also, anybody know where to get a beefy towbar (non-folding) to mount on the bumper? The old one got a bit bent

Is that on a Landrover?? ANyways, you could try and straiten that metal back to where it should be and weld it back together, but it looks pretty rusty. At least hit back strait, put some plate behind the bumper and then bolt the brackets on through both the bumper and the plate to distribute the load so its not in the 2 little spots where the bolts are.

It's a 75 CJ. And the current brackets are bolted + welded on, so the force isn't just on the 2 bolts.

Only reason I asked if it was a landrover was b/c of the boxy looking things to the edges of the bumper that look like rover fenders. You can see in the pic where the welds broke on the one that came off. If it had been welded good, it would have ripped all the metal with it at the edges of the bracket rather than just where the bolts go though. So either weld them back on good with the bolts or use some metal to strenghthen the backside of the bumper. My towbar brakets just had 2 bolts holding each one on and I never had any problems, granted I never hit anything or ran it into anything with it to really test the strength of them.
