console question and interior light

are the auto consoles hard to find,,,i never see them on ebay,,,i was just wondering...................also,,,,the 68 jeepster i got has an interior light on the hard top,,,,,looks like a marker lens,,,,was this factory or ghetto fab'd...................thanks

 

Do you mean the shifter?
I don't know if the Jeepsters ever came with a factory console.
If you mean the shifter for the auto tranny, I have a spare in my garage. Not sure how much Cherri would want for it. It belongs to her '71 Commando.

 

The autos had a console to cover the shifter bracket, and came back between the seats I believe. My partster doesn't have one either.

There was just a pile of 71 Auto parts on Ebay in Quebec. Console, tranny, axles, seats, doors and more. I still have it in my watch items, I can PM you the link, maybe if you contact him he will part with the console.

Not really so rare since all Jeepsters with auto's up to 71 had them.There's even a few around had the 3 speed standard floorshift with the console but the console itself was the same as the auto.The old late 60's early 70's Super Wagoneer came with them too. I haven't ever checked part numbers but I believe they're the same. They do come up on Ebay occasionally like Enos said.
The interior light on the hardtop is not factory but they did have under dash lights available.
