I killed my 225 v6 trying to pull 40's.:( Put in a 76' 231 and it still wont do it. looking to put a suppercharger off a buick la saber somewere in the 80'. I was told the 76' motor was stronger as far as durability is conserned and that the 80's are even fire. My Question: Can you put a 80's supercharger on a 76'engin and if it is possible, What all do I need to chage:?

You'll run into trouble with the heads and ports not matching up, etc.

It could/can be done. Better bet is probably to get a Turbo Buick V6 (if you can afford it) and put that in.

    I'm curious, what's a '67 231? The Kaiser (Buick) V6 in '67 was a 225.

The 76' 231 is out of a 76 buick skyhalk and it is the last year they made the odd fire 231 and came stock with the HEI.
So another question: can you take the hole top end off and put it on the 76' block. My first thought was that I would run into a problem with the distributorless ignition maching up to the 76 because it is an odd fire.
As for the idea of the turbo.... I already have the turbo system -the carb but the turbo would caus problems in rock. I want the supercharger for the low end power.
plus I havent seen anyone else do the supercharger yet and I like to be different.

If it's an oddfire 231 in a 67 somebody put it in there. There were no 231's until around 72 o 73, can't remember off hand what year they came out. Too many differences between an 87 3.8 and a 225 or probably a 231 for that matter, even or oddfire.

Ya I know that is not what I typed. I noticed when I red your reply. I have a problem with numbers. So if I cant cross the 2.....How hard is it to put an 1987 supercharged 231 out of a frunt wheel drive car into a 4WD:?

It's been done putting a FWD V6 in a Jeep, not as common as a RWD V6 though.
