    With a 225 or F-head?

    If it's a 225 a 225 or 231.

    If it's an F-head, another F-head.

Expanding on Sparky's answer, just about any modern engine will be equally difficult if it's an F134.

If it was a V6, from easiest to least easy, another Buick/Jeep V6 (225, 231), a Buick V8 (300, 340, BOP 350), other BOP small block V-engines (Pontiac or Olds V8), large block BOP engines, Chevy small block 90 degree V6 or V8, then about anything else.

We need more details - sp. automatic or manual?

Swapping that out is nearly a sin... rebuild it or replace it in kind.. if you must a later model 231 buick v-6 or a buick v-8 is a bolt in option and as mentioned before, any BOP engine or even a caddy!

I agree, better to rebuild or find another 225 or an early 231. The problem with the later (mid 70's even fire) 231 is the manifolds off the 225, although they'll bolt on, won't seal.Exhaust manifold ports are different. If you plan on keeping the Ross steering then you need to keep that front dump manifold on the drivers side. The steering box is in the way for anything that dumps out the rear. Course if you swap in a Saginaw steering setup then you can drop in most anything. Then agin, that's a whole new can of worms. Kind of really depends how much time, money and effort you want to put into it as to what engine you want to use and what you're ultimately using it for.
