Figured I'd start out by posting some pictures when I first got Wimpy and try to post them in order. First 3 are before I did anything to it, other than take off the Hard top. I've got a Konieg Hard top that weighs in around 320 lbs and its pretty much the reason I'm working on the jeep/body now. Too much for the rusty body I had on there. pics 4 and 5 are when I swapped out the original :hurrican: . I was going thru a quart of oil every 100 miles.

pics 1 and 2 are before I started this teardown and reconstruction of Wimpy. #3 is both jeeps in the garage being readied for deconstruction.
#4 I installed 10" brakes up front to replace the old 9" drums.
#5 I took a engine rebuilding class at school this past fall and one of the last things I did was to clean the head and replace a couple of valves and grind the seats down. Still don't have the rebuild engine in yet.

#1 is one of the pistons that was in Wimpy's original engine that I'm rebuilding. Engine got bored out to .040" over and is currently sitting on my engine stand and all it needs is to have the crank ground so I can figure out what size main and rod bearings to use on it. Then I just have to put it together.
#2 and # are of the 2 jeeps awaiting work. The bodies are stacking up in the corner...

Ok, pics from today's work. I got the rear springs on and working on taking the fronts off the 68. I should be able to put the front springs on by tomarrow. The ball joint press definatly helps get the old bushings out and the new ones in8)

Only thing I have to paint is the hood which is still rustoleum hunter green. I'll probably paint Wimpy's old grill too so I have the correct signal lenses. Right now I have the grill from the 68 painted to match the body.

Old windshield glass is at the shop getting new glass cut for it. Next project after the springs is to sandblast the windshield and get it cleaned up to put a fresh coat of paint on it.

Is that a CJ5 or an M38A1? You've got a slave power receptacle on the right side.

I also see a military dash, and no tailgate, like an M38A1. The two Jeeps in the very first photo both have tailgates. Looks like there's three different Jeeps represented in the photos.

Those last photos are definitely an M38A1. Looks like a solid project! Can't wait to see the "after" pics! :)

    :D
    its about 4 jeeps:D
yea, the body is an m38a1 that I got from my uncle last year. I had it on the 68 last spring but ran into engine problems with the :v6: and really didn't get to drive it. I had planned to do what I'm doing now last fall so I could have Wimpy ready to plow snow, but Kailey and school took up way more time than I realized so it got put off for the winter so I could plow snow.

The plan is to fix up Wimpy's old body(small miracle) and put it on my 68 next year.
