Quick question, my CJ5 is 3 speed. What issues will I run into if the 360 I'm going to look at this weekend is an automatic?

AFAIK, you'll just need a new flywheel and pilot bushing to match the 360. I can get one from The Jeep Guy in Portland for a couple bills....

anyone know about the differnt radiators? Is there a different one for the 304 compared to the 360, or is it the same one?

BTW, when we going to look at it?? Huh? Huh? When we going?? We can stop in and bug Shawn at the same time....

There was never a 360 in a CJ, so you have to go with the 304 radiator. The exterior dimensions of the 304, 360 and 401 are exactly the same, so only the cooling capacity might need to be changed. There was standard and HD cooling on the CJ of this period, but exactly what it includes I don't know. I expect std is 2 rows and HD is 3, with a fan shroud, but I'm guessing.

At the risk of repeating, you cannot use your 304 flywheel. You must buy a 360 flywheel.

Went and checked out the 360 on Saturday. Wasn't too impressed, AC pump rusted and won't move, accessories were corroded and the whole thing was damp with condensation (it was buried in blackberries). Body rough, interior was bad. It was the wifes' mothers rig originally, and the wife wasn't too keen on selling, but she would let it go for $500. For something that might run.
    So the search continues...:)

FWIW, my seemingly very original 73 has a 304 with 3-core radiator and a fan shroud. No idea if it was considered HD cooling or not.

Not saying it’s fact, but every original 304 I've seen had a three core rad.

Going to go pick up my new (old) 360 for the Ol' Red Jeep after work today.:)
Packrat2A went and pulled it for me yesterday, while I was working and helping the nephew with some mechanical issues he was having. (Thanks Mike!!!)
    Now let the fun begin!

When I replaced my radiator in my 74 the rad shop listed 3 row as std and 4 row as hd. My 5 currently has a 6 but PO changed it in from original 304.

I need to see what my radiator is... just never looked.
So do I take a picture of my 360 before i remove the 3/4" of grease, dirt, and oil? Or should I clean it for you all first... R)
Time for the tear down and check it out. Woo Hoo!
