While waiting on Herm's reply, I thought I would ask here as well.

Located a Warn Overdrive, but it it sans the planetary assembly that goes in the TC. How bad is it to have to buy one of these, costwise?

Actually, the guy's email stated "WE HAVE MOST OF THE WARN OVERDRIVE UNIT,BUT MISSING A GEAR THAT GOES
    IN THE TRANSFER CASE."

    ???

Unless you have worked on ODs and know exactly which part it is - to tough to call. Most folks don't know the real parts involved in the 'planetary' or the gear in the tcase.

I'd pass on that one, the planetary assembly is what's really valuable. Also, as Chuck noted the planetary is what is usually junk in the used od's that show up on ebay, Craig's list etc. In the long run, unless you really know overdrives, it is really a crap shoot when buying a used unit when Herm has rebuilt and new units with a guarantee.

(If you hadn't already guessed, I've been burned by a "bargain" Husky overdrive that I need to send to Herm to get rebuilt.)

About $320. unless the guy is giving you the od, I would buy a rebuilt one from Herm.
