Woo Hoo! It runs! :D Thanks to packrat2A coming over and offering a little (a lot!) of support, encouragement, and some much needed help.
We had a strange noise when it did fire up, and I was afraid I had done something terribly wrong, but Mike figured out I had my inspection plate on the wrong side of the spacer and the flywheel was just touching it:oops:. You want to know how bad that sounds? Makes you think somethings gonna come apart.
Oh, and when you're trying to fire it up, and your sons gf asks "Is all that stuff supposed to be running out from under there?", you maybe want to stop and check it out... I have a remote oil filter setup, and I punched a small hole in the oil filter that was pumping oil out while we were turning it over. Oh well, at least I know the oil pump worked!
All in all, it runs excellent... some tweaking still needed, minor timing adjustment (it will pop a little on deceleration from high RPM), the clutch needs some minor adjustment (a little growl when pushed in hard, but shifts good) need to tighten the alternator belt a hair, or maybe just needs some belt dressing.
I will organise my pictures of the rebuild and post them as soon as possible (if anyone cares:)).
Thanks to everyone for the help, suggestions, and encouragement. I think this went pretty good for my first motor rebuild (at least my first rebuild where I had a clue)... Now for the rest of the Jeep! R) But first, it's time for some :driving:.

I wish I could'a helped out more in the tear-down an re-assemble phases, but you did good! She runs great, has lots of power, and looks good! I think you will be very happy with that 360!

I was helping a guy do an engine swap in a Chevy truck a few years ago. Got everything done and fired it up. Hmm, wonder why the oil pressure isn't coming up? Hmm, wonder if we should shut it off and check? Hmm, wonder what that mysterious puddle under the truck that looks like 5 quarts of oil is from? Hmm, wonder who forgot to put the plug back in the oil pan before filling it with oil? OOPS!

OK, I've got pics! Now just a little reminder of what I started with and why I had to do this rebuild. (Jeeze I hope I do this right and they are small enough!)
Something tells me this ain't right! Also, notice the cracked piston?
There was the culprit... like the hole in the block?
So the search was on... packrat2A found this one for me here in town, after a couple months of making me wait...:D
    [IMG]
I think I better clean it up a bit...
    There, that looks better.
(I have to apologise, I didn't think to take pictures during the rebuild.)
Now for the install, this is my youngest boy helping. He's the one with the Scouts that are my, I mean our next project.

After plenty of wiggling, coaxing, choice words muttered, and finally going and getting the right tool for the job (a clutch alignment tool), it's in.
(OK, you gotta turn your head for this one, sorry)
    Here's the finished result.

And this is something I really liked...

I'm sorry if I made it too long and should have broke it up into shorter threads.
