My largest socket a 36mm, it is nowhere close. It appears to be a 2.25" nut but I want to be sure before I shell out the cash. Anyone know? My book doesn't say.

Edit: NM FOUND IT... 2 1/16 thin wall

    4wd hardware part #A692N

I was gonna say, it's a common tool that's just for that application. :D

the socket is a 2 and 3/32" and is available from snap-on or otc tools for about 20 bucks.a 2 and 1/8" would work also.

What Tinker said, 2 and 3/32 is the right size. I purchased a socket from the local NAPA parts store that was a die swaged heavy wall tube with a plate welded on one end to accept a 3/4 drive, Had to by a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter ( that i have not had to use yet ). shop around, this socket alone ran close to $40.00.
The one good thing about it is its long enough I can get a good grip on it and turn by hand without a ratchet.

Jeepfreak found one, any of the Jeep catalog retailers have them for under $10 and in a 1/2" drive.

That's my suggestion, I've had mine for several years now.

What Tinker said, 2 and 3/32 is the right size. I purchased a socket from the local NAPA parts house here that is a fairly large die swaged heavy wall tube with a plate welded on one end to accept a 3/4 drive, Bought a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter that i found out I did not need because this socket is long enough to get a good grip on and turn by hand. Shop around, This socket alone ran $40.00 ( It really bites when something like that is the only thing in town and you need it )
