ok - here's the scoop - I could not answer a buddies question about adding a PTO to the jeep (64 cj5)

I do not have one - he is thinking it would be great to get - suggested I could used it for lotsa stuff - wood splitter, winch and all kinds of rubegoldbergh crap I get into.

i told him I would probably be better off building another jeep with that idea in mind - he is convinced it would be an easy no-brainer

heck - look at the title - I am not even sure which the PTO would come off -

    Transmision or transfercase

    ideas? - sugestions?

The PTO comes off of the port on the back of the transfercase, has a factory sheet metal cover over it with 5 bolts, its about 4" in diameter. Straight inline with the transmission.
The jeep PTO powered a post hole digger, bush hog, sickle bar mower, air compressor, winch and about 4 or 5 other things.

Growing up on a farm, our Jeep had a Pto that powered a sprayer.... spent countless hours in that jeep spraying bindweed.... Actually some of the better times with my Dad. A 55 gallon drum in the back.

x2 think of as turning your jeep into a tractor, dads flatty had the monroe lift and the works, sure wish i had gone back to florida and retrived it:( promised it to uncle, he never went and got it and the house was sold:rofl: heck a pto is very usefull and a no brainer to install if you have all the parts, if i ever find all the parts again i thought about a pto generator to power the house in a power outage:)
