Guys, Can you tell me in 1975 if the CJ-5 came with shackles stock on the jeep or did the leaf springs bolt directly to the spring hangers? I am looking into doing some more suspension modifications, and knowing whether or not they came stock on the jeep will affect some of my decisions as to what I want to do. Basically the goal is maximum lift while being able to still park my baby in the garage.

Shackles front and rear at the end of the frame on each end.

Can I remove them without having any issues or would this not be wise? Would tire location in the wheel wells be affected?

    And not use them?
No, you want to leave them on there. They are part of the suspension flex and travel. If you have longer ones (shackle lift) you can reduce back to normal size.

Leaf springs change length as they flex, shackles allow the flex. If you take the shackles out you'll have a solid suspension.
