felpro vs standar headgasket

    hello,
    what are you thinking about felpro headgasket?is it more trouble free that the standar?i was read that it will not need retorque.have a more better sealing?

    You won't go wrong with Felpro. It's a quality product.

    I've never used their head gaskets, but I've never had a problem with any Felpro product I've ever bought.

    I personally prefer Fel Pro. I won't use anything but Fel Pro for head gaskets...

    will they need retorque?
    because i've heard that they don't.i will add permatex high temp sealant to the head bolts threads

    they claim no retorque needed, i have done it both ways,just that old school teaching that i was taught, not that big of a job to retorque

    like the standard?torque at 60lbs and with the engine hot after some miles torque at 65lbs?

    i always ran one for a day"my own" then let it cool and re torque to spec, things tend to expand when heated, so this could crush the gasket a little more, and after it cools things can be a little looser than normal, re torque to spec, usually have a 5 to 10 ft lb variance withn the spec its self, in other words the spec may say torque to 70-80 ft lbs, ideal for me would be 75 in that case, some give only 1 spec may say torque to 70ftlb in that case 70 it is, no need to torque past spec, some bolts may not even move when you retorque, thats normal

    i'm confused about the hot and cold re-tight.they are two camps.
    the first say that to leave to cold and retorque and the other say that to retorque it hot.i don't know what to do.i'm scared a bit to retorque with the engine hot not to brake any bolts because of the expansion from heat.i will use a felpro gasket.after a contact with the company they said to me that no need for retorque.anyone that installed a felpro here?????what do you think??

    I've only used FelPro head gaskets, and never retorqued. No problems.

    I sold Felpro back in the day, Never had a complaint or failure. I believe the torque specs are for a cold engine. I always torqued the bolts ran the engine to operating temp ,re-torqued and forgot about it, never a failure.

    use the felpro... run it.. keep a eye on things.. if no coolant in the oilpan or leaking outside dont worry about it, if so retorque cold,if problem persist you have other problems...ie craked head warped head etc.. like said i have done it both ways with great sucess, have ran into a time or two that it needed a retorque,but more often no problems

    will they need to spray some copper spray on them?like permatex?
    i'm trying to find new head bolts.where can i find?please help.

    i am guessing you have a F134 unless you are missing some or have broken ones, i would use what i got

    yes,f-head.
    some bolts are rusted.so i cleaned with a wire brush on a drill.on the threads are some pitting.and wondering if they would be leaking.
    will use permatex high temp thread sealant.
    or aviation sealant????
