cleaned up and painted my supersonic head today. Is there anything i need to do with the base of the head? it's clean right now... no rust or pitting. Do i paint it first or install it as is? i won't have time to install it for a couple weeks and i dont want it to rust.
Also, whats the recommended gasket for a supersonic?
    thanks again :)

evanjm Yeah, it's got an F-head.

you can paint it whenever you like, it won't hurt anything.

id' check the milled surface of the head with a straight edge and see if it has any warpage. if it does (or even if it doesn't) it's a good idea to mill the head. you can use a standard L-head gasket with these.

so its ok to paint the underside?
i checked it with the straightedge... looks straight.

No! just apply some light oil to this surface. You will need to remove this oil before you install the head. Paint the surfaces that will be outside the engine when it is assembled. Good luck, Matt W.
