I don't know how you "blow" valve cover gaskets ?
They either seal or they leak.
Do you have excessive crankcase blow-by?
    Is you PCV plugged up?
    Did you use cork gaskets?
Did you overtighten them by chance?
    tell us the story

    P-positive
    C-crankcase
    V-ventilation
Pressure from the rotation of the crankshaft, piston moving up and down the cyl, and combustion gases blowing by your rings is building up as you drive. Replace the PCV valve even if you think it is good and run a breather type oil cap on the other valve cover. Make sure that the PCV valve is hooked to a vacume source on the carb or intake.

what about that little elbow peice that connects to the PCV? replace that also? and how can i fit a breather on the other valve cover? and how can i tell if the place where the PCV hose is hooked up to is doing its job?

Replace elbow and hose if possible. Don't know if they make a breather type oil filler cap for the other valve cover, you will have to research. remove the hose from the PCV while the engine is running and you should hear air being sucked in, or put your finger on the hose attached to the carb/intake and you should feel vac.

How about drain holes being plugged/ i.e. oil not draining back fast enough? Or high volume oil pump causing same problem? Any oil pressure/starving issues?

Glenn, this thought must have popped into my head at the same time as you posted. This could easily be a result of blocked oil return passages in the heads. (We are talking :v6: aren't we? )
Pull those valve covers off, locate the drain return holes and make sure they are open the whole way back to the pan.

Great minds think alike, some times even at the same time! ;) Let's hope we're right. Now if I could just remember what I was thinking about. ;)

If you're using your old valve covers, no wonder they blow!

tone: The PCV valve is connected properly. Way to check PCV funcition is to pull it and shake it in your hand. If you hear/feel an interior mechanism shaking (like a metal ball in a can of spraypaint) then it's ok.
That passenger valve cover is WACK. Get rid of it! Heads look good otherwise. Good luck.

Looks like you already have an air breather type cap on the other side. If that's right, then excess pressure is less likely, unless it's also clogged.

Maybe an unrelated issue...I did notice that the heads look *rough* where the valve cover gaskets go. Did you clean the gasket area before you installed the new gaskets? Or, are there *pits* in the heads, in that area? Just didn't look right in one of your pics.
