Just wondering about a drivetrain combination.... I've got quite a few jeep parts from a cj-5 and a cj-7. I want to build up my 1977 CJ-5. Is this a feasable combination?
    258 6cyl motor
    NV 4500
    Atlas tc
    2 1/2 lift springs ... spring over
    dynatrac dana 60's
what am I looking at to actually build this combination?

Not sure but you may want to check the out Advance Adapter catalog. Will give you a good idea of what works

Without major mods like moving back the rear axle and moving forward the motor there is no way an NV-4500 will fit in a CJ-5, especially with an Atlas. I know, I've got one with a short shafted 300 which is shorter than the Atlas and there's no way i could've got it in my '5. Other than that, what you want to do is possible. LOTS of $ there though. What are you going to use it for that you need Dana 60's? In a '5, a 2 1/2" lift with spring over is going to present serious challenges with driveline angles as well. How big of a tire do you plan to run? Do you really need that much lift? That equates to about 7 1/2-81/2" of lift total......

Thanks for the replies.... I've just found myself with a stockpile of jeep parts and two non running jeeps. The CJ-5 is much closer to being roadworthy so I thought I'd build that one up. I've got a lot of homework to do for this one... I figured the driveline would be too tight for the short 5.
I took a good look at the CJ- with a spring over and can tell that it would be way too high for my 5.
I may end up selling off the CJ-7 and many of the parts and build up the 5 using a different combination.
I really want to use the dynatrac 60's on the 5 but they will need to be spring under.
    Thanks again, Rick
