Wiring ??s ignition switch

Hi all.
Trying to finish up my dash wireing today and having a brain fart I guess..

The hot lead from the switch and the acc.s lead.
what goes to what.
Does the acc.s lead have power when the switch is turned on or just in acc.s

For instance I know my radio should work in normal on mode but should also work in acc.s.
do I have to send both hot leads too it or will the acc.s lead work for both modes.

Are there things that should just be acc.s?

Don't know specifically about this switch, but there should be a hot lead in to the switch all the time. Generally there are three other connections, accessory, run and start. When you turn the switch CCW to ACC, only ACC should be hot. Turn the switch CW to run, and run and ACC should be hot. Not sure about start - certainly the start terminal will be hot when the switch is turned to start, but some cars take the starting ignition voltage from the solenoid, some from the switch. All start does is to activate the solenoid and run the starter motor. I expect that ACC will be hot at any position except off.

The best way to approach this, assuming you have a working switch, is to use your meter. Set the meter for a continuity test, and clip one lead to the hot terminal. Now test each of the terminals for continuity, at each of the switch positions.

yea, the ACC terminal will be hot in ACC and IGN.

If your radio has a (possibly pink) wire for the station/clock memory, then it goes to the BATT terminal.
The main power (Red) goes to the ACC term. if you want to park and have tunes.

I wire things like wipers, turn signals, guage power, ect. to the IGN term.
Things like a radio, backup lights, any aux lighting, go to the ACC term, so I can use them in camp.

I search'd but didnt find much.

Wierd how sometimes you find what you need and sometimes not.

I have switched to a GM column.
All new switches.

I guess I wasnt sure if acc.s was also hot when in run position.

I have to big Acc.s wires coming out of column switch.
I am going to install a breaker or 2 under dash to wire all my stuff to.
Jeepster has no fusebox per say for now

I went thru the whole jeep and replaced or fixed everything.
Solder heat shink ect.

Will do whole new harness next year.

 

Also be aware that some ign switches will not have power to acc when in the start or crank position.
