Recommended Lift

I am about to decide on a lift for my 1974 CJ6. I would like to fit a 33-34" tire. I am looking for recommendations. I don't have any trouble with fabrication, so I am open to anything, even a SOA.

My only concerns with the SOA is that it is too much lift for the truck and tire combo. If I would go this route, I would do a chevy dana 44 and high-steer setup. From what I have read, most people get about 5" of lift using wrangler springs.

If I go SUA, what setup do you recommend?

    Thanks

I run the Holbrooks on my 51, and have put Alcan's on other rigs. Don't know your location, but Alcan will build springs to your specs if needed.

I like the @2.5 - 3"s I got on the Holbrooks - and the 3" Alcan's on the Commando look real good.

I'd think twice or three times about SOA - not easy to do right, and the physics of it doesn't appeal to me. You have lots of choices for SUA. A Cj is too short and narrow for that much tire and lift IMO. This is a very popular topic - if you search here and in the ECJ5 forum, you should find hundreds of old threads to read. You could also call Bob Supplee and ask his advice - he's listed in the 'where to buy' sticky thread.

A little time spent searching this site shows that 2 1/2 inches is good for 32's, 33's, and skinny 34's. 4 inches is good for up to 35's with a little trimming, 37's with more trimming. Lot's of good lift info on this site, dig in and enjoy :)
