I've been pondering this, but I believe I'm right when I think "isn't there supposed to be a body mount right there?" It seems that my 62 cj5 is missing a mount right underneath where the gas tank sump would rest. Either I'm wrong or just crazy, but I believe its missing. Just for a progress update the third shot is where I'm at and the forth is where I came from during March of this year. In case anyone is wondering the diamond plate is for added floor support around the body mounts. Just a cheap idea that works very well with the fiber tub.

I was wondering that my self. No mount there on mine either. 2 on pass side and 1 on drivers side.

Exactly, I have the same setup as you. But alas on the driver side near the wheel well I don't have an outline where a mount could have been, nor do I have holes where it might have been riveted.

Nothing there on my '61...though it is just about where the factory hat channel runs across. About 8-10" forward of that is where the body mount is.

I was merely concerned with the strength in that area, and if the tub would be alright without a mount. But seeing as this isn't a wheeler it shouldn't be a huge issue as there isn't any "give" in the body in that location with weight on it.

It has definetly come a long way since I last saw it...I know you say "not a wheeler" but last time I checked boggers weren't exactly street tires..LOL.

    Yes a mount is missing.

These are Cj3b frames but it shows the mount you are looking for. It goes in the two aft most holes in the first picture you posted. Allof these body mount brackets picked up two rivets diagonal to each other. Simular to the aother frame mounts attached on the frame. This particular mount picked up a hole in the riser flange aft of or behind the gas tank or tool box on the pssenger side.

Oh those boggers are awesome tires for getting ice cream, you should stop by again and check out the rear pintle hitch. I rebuilt it to move my house off its foundation. R)

Hate to break it to you, unless I'm wrong, but those 2 holes are past where the normal body mount would be. That and they were drilled by a previous owner to support the gas tank in a half-assed manner.

Anyone else want to add some information to this, general consensus is going towards the idea that some 60's 5's lack that mount for either the fuel tank or other reason.

Here is a pic. I posted a while back that shows mine. It did not have a busing there.

Minus what you highlighted in that picture I would say thats exactly what I was looking for. My secondary passenger mount is a little longer then the front mount. I don't have the out rigged mounts like the ones you drew in, as mine are within the triangle brace. Thanks a friggin' ton for posting that image. I'm guessing its out of the manual. Anyone else care to add to the band wagon?

Yes, there is one under the toolbox on the pass. side that isn't on the driver side...If that makes sense. It would be under the gas tank if it matched the passenger side.

I went home and looked at me frame last night. You are right there is no bracket on the outside of the frame. My CJ5 did have a mount there though I did not install it after repairing the body with new floor skin.

The upper frame flange has a slot in it where the body to frame mount was to have gone. The body has a doubler where the hole was to be drilled. I did not drill it or install the mount.

The picture here is of the top of the frame aft of the gas tank looking forward from the wheel well. You can see the slot where the frame bolt was to have gone. I wonder if all CJ5 frames have this slot?

Mine has those holes there, but never had anything in them. Instead there were those 2 bushings a little farther back like I had in that drawing. Those bushings did not have any bolts or anything attached to the frame. The bushing farther back were, believe it or not just stapled to the body and just rode on that frame cross member top. I always thought that maybe thay changed from those seen in the wheel well to the ones farther back because of the change to the rear gas tank. :?
