Does anyone know what the space between the two fronts seat is supposed to be for a 1969 CJ5. My jeep is at the body shop right know and I was thinking about purchasing a 8 inch wide center console.
Any help would be great, thanks Mike

I put in an 8 inch console but I had to move the drivers side door over. See pics

My comment had a typo in it. To make the seats fit I moved the drivers side seat over toward the door. Not moved the door. I wanted to keep the passenger seat on its hinges so it could still tip. If I was doing it over I'd not do that. I'd move both seats out a bit. If you need any more info just drop me a PM and I can measure things for you.

Part of the JEEP experience for me is making everything I can. A console was an easy afternoon project. Made from 16 ga steel, brass door hinge, roll of trunk carpet from Oreilly's, 3.75"steel tube, and some scrap steel. This isn't going to break if someone plants a foot in it climbing in the back, holds lots of stuff, will handle a full koozy, and it looks good. I have fully bolstered seats and it fits nicely between them. Dare to imagine.
