A bit new to these motors (and couldn't find an answer w/ the search function)...does the 225 ('67) need to have head bolts sealed? It looked as if all head bolt holes were blind, but I may be wrong.

    Thanks!

    Anyone....Bueller?

I put the bolts in w/o sealer, but the motor is still on the stand. I can pop one at a time out to reseal if I have to. Anyone know whether the bolts go through a water jacket?

    Thanks!

When I did the head gaskets on mine (66) I did not use sealer on them because I had none going into water area. I did run thread chaser and blew air into each to clean out scale and debris. My FSM doesn't say any is needed.

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping you'd say that. I have three books...CJ Rebuilder's Guide, Chilton and Haynes. 2 say to put on sealer, the other does not...so I wasn't sure.

You can tell that this was the first time the engine was apart (the PO pulled it apart), and the threads on the bolts were in great shape. You usually can tell when a 40-year old bolt has been in a water jacket...it gets pretty corroded!

    Again, appreciate the help.

Trust the FSM, get one, get rid of those others.
