I've done alot of searches, But I can't find what the normal operating temp is on a 258. I'm running around 210. I would be happier @ 200, I think! I have a new 192 thermostat.

    I agree.

I run an electric fan and also have the 195 thermostat. She ran at 190 all summer and same now in good ol' Ohio weather!

Ideally the coolant should stay at the set point of the thermostat all the time. That's only for the ideal system though, and you can expect the temp to drift up and down a little with the weather. I would worry if I were consistently running above the set point though, but first I'd try and verify the coolant temp some other way. Maybe with one of those cheap infrared thermometers from harbor Freight, or a thermometer dunked in the coolant ... something.

Coolant temp in the rad is about 190, (I have a 192 thermostat). After driving about 5 miles. New dash gauge reads 212. I could open the radiator with out any coolant pressure. I have a new thermostat & radiator cap.

Sounds like you have a bad gauge or sender (or related wiring) if it doesn't read within a couple degrees of a thermometer stuck in the radiator.
