My freshly rebuilt T90 seems to have stomach virus . . . or he's been fed too much . . . I'm not sure which

After I've run my rig for awhile, there's a sizeable puddle under the tranny, appears to be coming out the bleed hole up by the bell housing. The oil doesn’t look frothy, like its foaming, so I don’t think its that.

After a while, the dripping/running stops, so it doesn't really act like a bad seal. Yesterday, I crawled underneath and went refill the Trans/T-case (I had visions of my Trans/T-case/OD turning into a useless blob of under lubricated, burnt metal) and they both only took about a pint of oil (combined, not each) before it started running out of the filler hole.

I know the book calls for like 6 ½ pints of oil capacity, and in the old days with an Ford F250 I had, you just filled up the t-case and diffs until the oil was the same level as the filler plug, and that was it.

Does it sound like the trans is over-filled? In running it yesterday, between 40-65 mph, the trans cover would get warm, but not hot, and it seemed to shift OK.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks-

    Eck

Doesn't sound like its overfilled to me. Bottom of the fill plug is what I remember.

It could be leaking around the bolts for the bearing retainer.

Isn't there an oil deflector of some sort? Is there a vent that could be plugged?

There is a washer/slinger for the front bearing. There are holes above the oil level between the transmission and t-case so the t-case vents for both.

I had a similar problem with the tranny spitting out oil from the top of the shift tower. The smaller floor panel cover was off and I was doing about 60 on Rte 95. All of a sudden oil starrted spitting out and worst of all my wife was with me and not exactly dressed for such an occurence! Bad jeep karma.
