steering conversion

    yes i know its been discussed many times over, and i searched, but my question is have any of you did it and kept the orignal steering colum? i have finally got a warm place to work and was just looking it over the other night, i have 2 extra colums so cutting one up isint a problem;)

    Yes I've done it twice with the stock columns and like it. You pull the steering box apart and cut the worm gear off then you have to turn the shaft down slightly to put a universal joint on. You also need a plate for the floor to hold the outer column. Herm has a nice built aluminum one or you can cut your own out of steel. done it both ways. I really like using the stock column It just feels right and not that tricky to do at all.:beer:
