I have a 1975 CJ5 I just finished switching over to power steering. good conversion! I put all new stuff on. But my Steering Column has some up & down play when you push down on the steering wheel. How do I fix this, Any Ideas, It did this before the converson. I just want to fix this next.

I don't think the tilt column info will help much with a '75. 1975 was the last year for the bus wheel.

Parts book shows a ball bearing at the top end, with a preload spring to remove the end play (apparently). There's a bushing at the bottom end, but it seems only to handle lateral movement, not movement along the axis.

So basically this may be normal.

Actually, it was pretty easy. The hardest part is re-assembly of the rack into the column with the bar that goes to the switch, took a couple of tries. My column was out of the Jeep.

    spud Nope..it's not finished!

I have the same issue with my '75. When mine moves it's blows the horn sometimes. This is the only annoying part about it. I just wonder how much end play it's supposed to have?

Like timgr said there is a spring in the column that keeps the upper bearing loaded, if it is weak or broken then the steering shaft will move fairly easily. I replaced the spring in my column with a stiffer one (I don't remember where I got it) on my 72. If I push my steering wheel down the steering shaft will move some even with the stiffer spring (and yes my horn honks also if I do this).
