Is it posible to run a 35 spline shaft with ARB carrier in a Dana 44 rear diff?

35 spline shafts are custom. I would geuss if you can find a matching 35 spline ARB, and custome bearings to fit the bigger shafts it would be posible, but it seems like alot of work. If you really need more strenght than the d44, it might be time to look at bigger axels like a 9" or a 60.

Good point.... If I am going to put an ARB in the rear anyway and do chromoly shafts I figured why not order a 35 spline ARB and 35 spline chromoly can't be that much more money.

that will certainly build one stout d44. I'd look into other custom options before going that route personally.

The 44 is tough. The factory shafts are plenty for a vehicle the size of a 5. I see you have a 401 but look at it this way, they sold FSJ with 401's running d44 axles.

I have managed to grenade the spider gears in mine, but if you swap in a detroit or arb, that wont be a problem.

I'd put chromo's in the front, or do a 44 swap into the front before I worried about the 44 rear.

Just put chromo in the front (inner and outer) with ARB and new disc brakes. Thinking about adding the Navajo Brake Booster to ease the brake pedal. I haven't decided on hubs ...Warn or Superwinch?

Why bother when there are off-the-shelf 33-spline carriers available for the Dana 44? I think 35-spline shafts will have a hard time reducing any torsional shock load transferred to the ring and pinion teeth. Besides, I really doubt you'd break a Superior 33-spline shaft. They're gnarly.
