Hi I have recently gotten up to my *** in a Dana 27a front axle rebuild. Well, I should say tear-down, because tearing it apart (even with the Haynes, Chiltons and Moses Ludel's Jeep Rebuilder's Manual) I am running into one thing after another! Now I can't get the differential carrier out. I have followed all the steps listed in the manuals, and according to Ludel "two prybars lifting evenly the carrier comes out" WRONG! Any advice?

I hate to ask, but are the axles out?

  3. Turn the pinion while prying that will usually help it to walk out. I comes out just the way the manual says it's just stubborn. It's a Jeep what did you expect. Make sure you keep track of the bearing caps and that they go back where they came from, their usually stamped.
