I ended up sourcing all my parts from Summit...got a Howe slave unit(pull type), a Dorman master cylinder(single output) and a 36" LongAcre stainless line. All it took was drilling the firewall to mount the master then drilling the brake pedal shaft to accept the arm from the master. For the slave I made up a L-bracket out of some scrape metal I had laying around. Hardest part is positioning the master...I made a cardboard template of its mounting surface which made it much easier to locate it on the firewall in the desired location...once it was mounted I located the piston arm which had a clevis type end and marked my brake pedal arm for drilling. One thing to remember to do is bleed the slave cylinder prior to mounting it. Now that I have it in it is by far one of the best mods that I have done to the Jeepster.

Besides the line That is the same parts found on 1980 CJs. I am running one on my 70cj5 and one on my 47cj2a. I am using the hanging pedals off the 80 cj also.

Look for used ones first they are pricey to buy new ones. 4wd hardware has them also.

let me know if you want some pics.

I did the Wilwood slave unit from Summit with a stock XJ master cylinder. If I had to do it all over again, I would go with some type of OEM GM slave, cast iron if possible. The Wilwood unit has been somewhat finicky in the HEEP; several problems with the way the mounting post attaches to the cylinder.

I used the Novak mount and slave cylinder, and the hanging peddals out of a yj, and the master cylinder from the yj on my 70 cj5. 1 of the best mods i made.

I would second the Novak setup.

    Question:

How did you mount the line to the YJ master cyl?
