First off this is going into a 85 CJ-7. Jeep currently has inline six with TF999 and dana 300. I am putting a chevy 350 in the jeep and want to know how well the TF999 will perform witht the chevy engine? Would it be better to put a TH350 tranny instead? If so what is the best route to take?:beer::beer::beer:

TF999 will work fine, but require an adapter. You can likely get a 350 or 400 that will bolt up for less than the price of the TF adapter is you are sticking with a SBC. If you go AMC, like a 360 etc...go TF all they way.

    Stroker! www.jeepstrokers.com

Spend your money on the engine, not on adapters. 4.6L inline 6, drops in. No adapters or anything. Excellent factory MPI. V8 power, easily. Bigger displacements are possible with enough funds. You can buy pistons made specifically for the 4.6L stroker from Silvolite now - makes it an easy build.

No personal experience, but I understand the TF999 will take V8 power if you build it right.

Will the TH350 require an adapter for the Dana300 or will it bolt up? Also, will the 350 or 400 trannys bolt in the jeep with the current cross member?

Timgr, I wish I had went that route to begin with on the engines. However, I have already finished the chevy 350 and its ready to drop in.

You will need an adapter to the Dana 300. http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/kit_135.htm You will need to adapt both the engine mounts and the transmission mount.
