    Hanging pedals advice needed.

I just got a set of hanging pedals, booster and M/C, and clutch M/C from a Wrangler, to put into my jeep.

What I am looking for is any guide lines for the location of the unit-----You know, how many inches down from the cowl top, and how far from the edge. Or wherever you usually measure from.

Here is a couple of photos

The existing steering wheel may stay, or it may not----I am happy to make it go away if it is going to be a problem getting the pedal mount in.

The firewall photo isnt too good, but there is no heater in the way.

    Thanks in advance.

I think you kind of on you own and I am not sure we can help. The only thing can think of is: I placed my pedals where they would be the most comfortible when I was driving or sitting in the seat.

I copied the dims out of a CJ-7 but didn't like them after sitting in it. The rig is going to be a trail rig (some day) and the seating position felt like I was way to close to the door, so moved them a few inches toward the center.

Trial and error. Give some thought to how the brake peddle relates to the steering column and the skinny. This is usually the tightest fit area. As noted above, make sure to mock it up and see if you can live with it before cutting.

I just did this swap last weekend. I used the dimensions off a project CJ7 I have in my garage. I will try to get pictures on here as soon as I can. The only thing is I had to move my seat over 2" to center it. I will let you know when i post the pictures on my build thread.

    Anybody else????

It would seem that the cutout in the dash kinda forces the location of the steering column, and that in turn forces the location of the pedals --- at least horizontally.

Scott, thanks for the photos, looked at all of them, nice looking Jeep. This will help with locating my pedal setup.

How do you like the sm465 compared to the old tranny??

I am also looking to go with the 465, and a 4.3 Chevy v6 in front of it.

Didn't really run the T-90 very long, but I do really like the SM465. The low first gear comes in handy while running a rock field.

as was said before you'd be best served to set them up then sit in the seat and see how they feel......I played with mine quite a bit before I was comfortable they were right

Seat??? did you happen to look at my first photo:D

O.K., getting serious now, thanks to all who responded, I think I have a plan figured out.

I am going to use the dash cut to locate the steering, the steering locates the pedals, and then when I find, or make a seat mount, fit it to the correct place.

Thanks again to all who took the time to respond.

Yeah I measured where the pedals hung in my buddies CJ7 and the first bolt ( the one circled in yellow ) was right in the same spot. It was the bolt hole for one of my dash bolts so I drilled it out so the bolt for the pedals could pass though. Then I measure the distance between the two bolt for the pedals and drilled the other side out. Once you have those two bolts in you can make your holes for the brake booster. I used 1 3/4" hole saw for the middle hole. Hope this little write up will help you out let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Dan, and Scott, thanks for the photos, they really help me to figure out what is going on.

Obviously the differences from military and civilian dash panels are making things difficult here. Pretty easy to see looking at both sets of photos --(Dan and Scott)

As it turns out the left side glove box on my Jeep will not allow the use of the dash bolt that Dan used. That is not unless I what to cut into the glove box and its door.

So, I'm just going to locate from the existing steering column, which is located by the existing--factory it looks like---cutout in the dash.

Like I said a few times already, thanks for all the help you guys offered.

I did use the stock dash mount, I just made it wider for the new column mount.
