I am looking at a disk brake conversion for my 60 cj5 front end, and a neighbor has a setup he is willing to sell me. It is not the same kind of setup I am used to seeing on Jeep sites.

I have searched the net for this style of conversion kit, and come up empty.

It consists of a thick ground steel plate, big hole for axle, six holes to bolt it on, and a couple of threaded holes for the guide pins that the calipers slide on.

    Plus the calipers, disks etc.

All the other disk changeover kits I have seen advertised use a completely different mounting plate, apparently hydroformed, and not at all like what is in this kit.

Anybody know what this setup is, and is it any good???

    Thanks.

Sounds like the type of kit 4wpw sold a number of years back. It uses the late 70's 2 bolt Dana 30 calipers and hubs/rotors from same. Works just fine, and with the exception of the plate, uses all stock Jeep parts so finding replacements is very easy.
