Dauntless 225 Water Pump Questions

    I just removed my water pump and there were 4 long bolts, 3 of these are approximately 4.25 inches long, and one is 5 inches longs. Not sure where the one longer bolt goes. As I am looking at the engine from the front where does the longer bolt go? Also when installing the new water pump and gasket what is the best sealer to use and do I need to put anything on the long bolts.

    If you stick the bolts in, it'll be obvious. I use Permatex Ultra Black RTV or the like on the gaskets, and a little on the bolt threads.

    What Patrick said. Make sure some sealer is on the bolt threads or you may end up with coolant seeping out the bolt holes. I also like Ultra Black. Good stuff imho.

    I use this for most everything anymore, it works fantastic on bolts that need some kind of sealant.

    This last time I used some Loc Tite RTV I got from Summit....
    It looks/ smells/ tastes just like Ultra Black.:D

    yeah but that permatex stuff is like never seize.......a little goes everywhere.....I use it too love it
