Looks like Oh Poop is going in for a brake job. Conned a buddy of mine into doing a little OJT with me. Trying not to kill myself ;-)

Replacing the Master Cyl, all Wheel Cyl, and the hoses. The lines look good, but will know more when the job gets started. After that comes the clutch job... I guess Oh Poop is a good name for him.

I'll take snaps along the way and post 'um for those that want 'em.

easiest way to do the brakes is to do one side at a time, that way you have the other side for reference.

    aallison,

See what I can do. All parts are suppose to be in this morning. Will pick them up and about gal of brake fluid. Anyone know just how much fluid this brake system holds? Is a gal enough?

Using my "Jeep CJ Rebuilder's Manual" and a shop manual to go through this. See how it goes.

A quart is usually more than enough.

    Jobs done...
Sorry no photos, running out of time. Here is what I found wrong when doing the repairs.

    1. All four wheel cyl had rust, pitting, and some kind of sludge in them.
    2. Front brake hoses were rotting and about to go.
    3. Driver Rear Drum needed to be replaced along with the self-adjuster.
    4. Master Cyl had the same sludge.
    5. Flushed entire system which took over a quart of fluid, but at least all bleeder push clear fluid.

The one thing I did that helped is to buff the springs and then painted them. They take a lot of abuse and painting them provides a bit of rust protection. I'll end up doing this again in about 6 months when I replace all of the shoes. But next year's Christmas present is to go disc all around.:)
