d44 flanged offset tire size

    I have a 71 and it has a dana 44 offset with flanged axels what the bigest size tire I should be running?

    33"-34" is about it. Some run with 35"'s with ok luck but that's pushing it imho. 35's are getting large for an 81" wheel base imho. A lot of it will depend on your driving style. I've seen 44's break with 31" tires and I've seen them hold up to 36"s.
    The tire size you "should" run is entirely up to you.

    I'm with Nick - 33s and only 10.5 wide is what I run (mine has the FF in it though). My style and the roads I run dictate lots of snappage if I go bigger.

    :iagree: with both.
    I have a '71 with your same axle. I run 33X10.5" tires with excellent results. The tires rub the inner fenders some at full suspension twist (one wheel up and one wheel down). I have a 2.5" lift. I don't worry about breaking anything, but I drive cautiously.

    thanks guys I put 35s on but its like a show jeep so I think I should be fine
