I removed this piece from the block, I think, some time ago and I cannot identify it nor recall where it installs. Nothing in the FSM that I could find. My hunch is that it installs somewhere near the starter. It's about 2 1/3" long and 1" high w/ 2 bolt holes at each end. Anybody know what this is and where it mounts, and what it does? :?

Your pic is a little fuzzy Hippo. I can't quite make it out.

The pic size requirements make it nearly impossible to view when downsized to specs. :( DFO prolly.

Looks like the bracket that supports the front of the starter.

Yep, starter support. Bolts to the block and into a threaded hole in the starter housing...... Mine hasn't been on there since I first replaced the starter, about 6 1/2 years ago.......

I don't use one either. If you use the newer style starters, there's no place to attach it.

Good info, thanks. I wonder why it's necessary if no one uses it? Does it take weight off the 2 other mounting bolts?

Edit pic, resize to approx. 640x480, then crop out all the white from the resize.

I have a feeling....looking at the pic, that somewhere along the way you're blowing the pic *up* to approx 640 x 480.

    You should be able to:

    - snap the pic
    - Select just the portion you want
    - Crop
    - Then resize (down only) if the cropped pic is still larger than 640 x 480.

Resizing larger only makes fuzzy pics.
